Saint Patrick and his day . . .

Saint+Patrick+ShamrockIt dawned on me today that St. Patrick would probably be appalled by most of what happens on this day ascribed to his name. I don’t have time for the history lesson or to write much but there are things you should think about beyond wearing green, parades and drinking green beer.

He was a man of faith who left us with some significant words to think about. I will leave you with these words today from the man himself.

“Christ with me,
Christ before me,
Christ behind me,
Christ in me,
Christ beneath me,
Christ above me,
Christ on my right,
Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down,
Christ when I sit down,
Christ when I arise,
Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.”
― St. Patrick

“Be still and know that I am God.
Be still and know that I am.
Be still and know.
Be still.
Be.”
― St. Patrick

“I know for certain, that before I was humbled I was like a stone lying in deep mire, and he that is mighty came and in his mercy raised me up and, indeed, lifted me high up and placed me on top of the wall. And from there I ought to shout out in gratitude to the Lord for his great favors in this world and for ever, that the mind of man cannot measure.”
― St. Patrick, The Confession of Saint Patrick
